1. How is Ivory Snow formulated for baby laundry needs?
Ivory Snow® has been helping mothers clean baby clothes for 60 years. Ivory Snow is specifically formulated to help clean tough baby and toddler stains and to rinse away thoroughly, leaving clothes virtually residue free. And that ensures a gentle, soft feeling against delicate skin.

2. How long should I use Ivory Snow for my child's laundry?
Babies have delicate skin. The Ivory Snow® formula is designed to not only help clean tough baby and toddler stains, but also rinse thoroughly. Thorough rinsing leaves clothes virtually free of residue, so they are left soft and comfortable. We recommend that Ivory Snow be used for at least the first 2 years. This will vary, of course, based on your laundry habits and your child's skin type.

3. Which should I use - liquid or powder?

Liquid detergents are better at removing oily and greasy stains and are excellent for pre-treating stains. Powder detergents work better on mud and clay. It's really a matter of choosing the one that best meets your needs, but you might want to keep both on hand.

4. How do I get the best cleaning performance for my laundry?
We suggest these steps to achieve the best cleaning results:

  • Sort your clothes before laundering and wash similar colours together.
  • Pretreat obvious stains.
  • Always follow fabric care tag laundering instructions.
  • Use the warmest water safe for garments (be sure to check care tags).
  • The way you fill your machine is also important. We suggest that you:

    1. Start the water in your washer.
    2. Add Ivory Snow®.
    3. Then add clothes.

  • Use the amount of Ivory Snow recommended. Use more Ivory Snow if you have very hard water, large loads, heavy soils or a large capacity washer.
  • Do not overload your washer or dryer.

5. Why does powder detergent sometime get lumpy?

Glad you asked! When powder detergent gets lumpy, it's usually because of the way it's stored. Excessive heat and humidity or dampness can cause the detergent to get hard or lumpy. For best results, store your detergent in a cool, dry place.

6. Why wouldn't a powder detergent dissolve?
For best results in getting detergent to dissolve and to avoid any granular residue, follow these directions:

  • Always add the detergent to the water before the laundry.
  • Choose the appropriate size wash setting to have enough water for the load and to keep granules from getting trapped in the fabrics.
  • Make sure the cycle's agitation is the right one for the types of soils and fabrics in a washload.
  • In winter, add a little hot water to your load if you're washing in cold water.
  • Store your detergent in a cool, dry area to avoid lumps caused by moisture.
  • Add extra detergent to large or heavily soiled washloads to help keep soils suspended in the water and off your clothes.
  • For hard water areas, add extra detergent, if necessary, to counter the minerals in the water.
To correct a washload that has granules or residue, try this easy solution:

  • Rewash the load in warm water with the recommended amount of detergent.
  • Adjust the size of the load or water fill to ensure proper washload rotation.
  • Make sure the washer cycle matches the size and type of washload.
Hope this information helps you find a solution.
